The Acts of Jesus - The journey through the book of Luke

The Gospel according to Luke is the first part of a two-part work written by Dr. Luke, a highly educated and thoughtful individual. This first volume, often referred to as the “Acts of Jesus,” focuses on what Jesus began to do and teach during His time on earth. The second part, known as the Acts of the Apostles, continues the story, showing how His followers carried on His mission after His ascension.

What stands out most about Luke’s work is his reason for writing. In Acts 1:1-2, we find his motivation: “In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day He was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles He had chosen.”

Luke committed his time, energy, resources, and skills to researching and documenting the life of Christ. He did this not merely as an intellectual exercise, but to ensure that the truth about Jesus would be passed on accurately.

As Christians, we share this responsibility. We are called to do what Jesus did and teach what He taught. This is especially relevant during the Christmas season. Amid celebrations, gatherings with loved ones, and the joy of the season, we must remember the true essence of Christmas—the message of Christ.

The Keep Christ in Christmas Campaign seeks to reignite this consciousness in every believer. Like Luke, we are invited to carry the true message of Christmas to those who may not yet know it.

As you use this devotional to reflect on the teachings and acts of Jesus recorded by Luke, may you discover deeper insights into the meaning of Christmas, allowing it to guide you not just during this season, but every day of the year.

With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.
